Naughty Dog has already announced The Last of Us Part II Remastered for PS5. Although the blockbuster sequel has been out for over three years only, the makers have decided to give it an upgrade. With the remaster, Naughty Dog is bringing a bunch of new content. And while players wait, the developers could very well take the route of the first installment, TLOU Part I Remake, to expand beyond PlayStation.
Following the approach with the first game, there are many reasons to believe the game could get a PC port as well. After all, TLOU got a ps5 remake, followed by a pc release.

For the uninitiated, the studio had originally announced the remake of 2013’s game in early 2022. While revealing it, Naughty Dog also mentioned the date of release, which was September 2, 2022. Interestingly, the blog talking about Part I on PS5 also unleashed a surprising update. The makers had also shared the big information of the Remake being in development for PC too, back in June last year.
As planned, The Last of Us Part I Remake first arrived on PS5. Later, it made its way to the PC earlier this year in March.
Now it’s already known that Sony has expressed its plans for expanding on multiple platforms, especially PC. Apart from focusing on PlayStation exclusives, the company has been trying to offer its console blockbusters on other devices as well.
The likes of God of War, Death Stranding, Days Gone, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales are perfect examples of Sony’s approach of attracting PC gamers. TLOU Part I Remake was yet another addition in this growing list. And now, it’s expected to extend further with The Last of Us Part II Remastered. The PS5 remaster is set to release on January 19, 2024. Following that, the developers could also share the news of the sequel’s development for PC. TLOU released on the PC 6 months after its PS5 remake came out. So can we expect mid to late 2024?
Who will develop The Last of Us Part II Remastered for PC?
Now comes the most important part for the unannounced PC port of the sequel. It’s no secret that the launch of TLOU 1 remake on the PC was flawed when it was made available on Steam and Epic Games Store. Interestingly, the release was pushed from beginnng of March to March 28 to release the game in the “best shape possible.” The performance, however, was plagued with multiple bugs and graphical issues.

The port was developed by Iron Galaxy Studios (responsible for Arkham Knight’s PC port as well). As a result, most of the PC players ended up criticizing the makers for delivering a poor game. There were even situations where some of them decided to get a refund in order to wait for the title to get better with future updates.
This time, Naughty Dog’s team will surely take all the necessary measures to avoid a repeat with TLOU II. Surely, Nixxes Software is the ideal option. The studio has successfully ported PlayStation exclusives like God of War, Spider-Man, and Miles Morales. It’s even working on the PC port of last year’s console hit Horizon Forbidden West.
