The highly-awaited Tekken 8 launch is just around the corner. While Bandai Namco’s fighting adventure has plenty of aspects to bank on, it’s being celebrated as the ‘homecoming of legends’. For years, fans had been rooting for a follow-up to Tekken 7. However, Bandai Namco took all the time it needed for the eighth installment. And from the looks of it, Tekken 8 feels like an ‘ideal comeback’. Of course, the inclusion of Devil Jin in the fighting roster is one big reason for the surreal hype built around the launch. So, is Devil Jin set to be the highlight of Bandai Namco’s fighting showdown?

Devil Jin, the mutated devil form of Jin Kazama has invited plenty of fascinating theories around. The iconic brooding devil made his first appearance in Tekken 3 but only became playable in Tekken 5. Although he was a part of Tekken 7, players were highly disappointed with the character’s treatment. In fact, a lot of fans who had hailed Devil Jin felt underplayed in strength. Well, Tekken 8 has certainly got that taken care of, already!

Fighting Style

Devil Jin’s fighting style is based on the combination of Mishima Style Fighting Karate and Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts, which he voluntarily repudiated and suppressed and employed in Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament. Over the course of the series, Devil’s demonic nature and elements of his own demonic talents were reflected in the animations of some moves, which were altered to be rougher and cruder in execution than Jin’s Tekken 3 moveset.

A leak earlier in 2023, had allegedly released a snippet of a Devil Jin battle from Tekken 8. The video showed some of the iconic movements evolved into stronger modes in the upcoming installment, which appealed to a lot of fighting fans all around. One of his only few drawbacks is that he doesn’t have a typical magic four. As a result, the start animation for his fastest Counter-Hit launcher, which takes 15 frames, is rather slow.
