“We’re in Discussion With Microsoft”: Baldur’s Gate 3 Dev Gives Update on the Recent Xbox Bans

Xbox players weren’t too happy with the 2023 Game of the Year, Baldur’s Gate 3. While players clearly love the game, Microsoft’s server policies have allegedly spoiled the party for a lot of players as the series of bans didn’t seem to stop. So, is it ‘game over’ for all the players who have been banned due to gameplay content? Let’s look at how the ‘ban’ events have unfolded for the Dungeons & Dragons epic on the Microsoft console. 

After winning the crown of ‘Game of The Year’, Larian Studio’s role-playing masterclass announced its arrival on Xbox. There had been a lot of speculations about how the RPG would be received on the console. However, not in the wildest of projections had the pundits predicted this interesting twist. Following reports of Xbox players facing unfair bans with Baldur’s Gate 3, here’s how Larian Studios’ has responded. 

Larian Studios confirms Xbox bans on Baldur’s Gate 3 players have started lifting 

As reports of Baldur’s Gate 3 players on Xbox facing unfair bans started to trend on the web, the developers assured the community of a resolution soon. In the most recent update, Larian Studios’ Director of Publishing, Michael Douse, through their X handle, has confirmed working on the issue. The latter, joining the thread of the company’s official statement on the bans, wrote, “Got confirmation this morning that bans are beginning to lift. We’re in discussion with Microsoft but I’ll let them handle any of their own policy discussions. Progress!”

According to the claim, Xbox has started lifting the bans, but there are still plenty of discussions planned to adapt to the policies. Fans will soon get to know what kind of content wouldn’t be flagged from the GOTY’s media. For the time being, the developers have issued an advisory for the Xbox players. To avoid any unnecessary attention from the Microsoft servers, make sure to turn off mature content while trying to upload media on the Microsoft servers. 

Now, the question is what actually went wrong in the first place?

It looks like the issue is getting a firm resolution in the coming days.
