Memes have become a part of most users’ daily internet routine. And now, the Call of Duty team is going to cash in on the trend. There are plenty of memes regarding COD. And many are usually targeted at its games due to annoying issues and problematic situations. The latest case is of Modern Warfare 3 and its Season 1 update. Interestingly, one eagle-eyed fan has spotted a weird moment connected to an infamous meme in the community – Update Requires Restart. Seems like the devs have actually brought it into the game, albeit with a twist.
For the uninitiated, ‘Update Requires Restart’ is the message that usually pops up on the screen while booting up the game. Even when there’s no reason for it to show up, most players end up facing it every time they try to play MW3. Players came across a similar situation with other recent COD titles, like Modern Warfare II and 2019’s rebooted MW too. But this time, it’s different.

That’s because of its frequency of appearing on every occasion. As a result, the ‘Update Requires Restart’ meme has expanded across social media while being mentioned by players almost every time in relation to a gameplay-based issue. First noticed by X user Soup, in the clip mentioned above, this unique blueprint has got a screen that initially shows up the title of ‘Advanced Warfare’ from 2014. But immediately, the screen then ends up getting a pop-up saying “Update Requires Restart.” That’s just insane to believe that the makers have actually done this inside MW3.

It seems like the devs are aware of the meme’s popularity and want to make it a part of the gameplay experience itself. Well, not all the players are going to like it. That’s because they still receive the annoying pop-up while hoping for the devs to fix it. Maybe the weapon blueprint is the developers’ way of simply acknowledging the issue. A unique way at that. Speaking about the rumored blueprint, it’s yet to be officially confirmed for MW3’s Season 1.
