While fans are thrilled about Fortnite chapter 5, the chapter also has few things it would’ve been perfectly fine without. The transition from the beloved Fortnite OG left players in a state of anticipation and even anxious. Now, as the dust settles and the community delves into the the latest chapter, it turns out that there are still mixed reactions from players.

While one of the most missed features is the OG map leaving the game again, there are many other things that fans believe Fortnite could have done better. The game started Chapter 5 with a Big Bang, and while there are many new features and mini-games, it looks like there are still some things Epic can work on. Let’s look at 10 such things.

1) Expensive Cars

One of the initial shocks in the Fortnite community was the realization of exorbitant prices for the new in-game vehicles.

Despite the visual splendor these vehicles offered, the steep cost of 4,000 V-Bucks per vehicle became a contentious issue. The community’s call for more reasonable pricing reverberated across various social media platforms.

2) The Grapple Blade

Transitioning from the OG season, players found solace in the presence of the Grappler, an iconic mobility item that won the hearts of many. However, this joy was short-lived as the Grappler was vaulted in Chapter 5. The replacement, known as the Grapple Blade, failed to capture the same essence, earning it the label of “ODM gear but worse.” The disappointment lingered, with the hope for the Grappler’s return crushed.

3) Lack of ability to upgrade weapons on the go

Another gameplay hurdle presented itself in the form of the Upgrade Station problem. The scarcity of these stations across the island posed a significant inconvenience to players who sought to enhance their weaponry. Unlike the convenience of the OG season, where upgrades could be executed on the fly, Chapter 5 demands players to embark on extensive journeys to locate a vault for weapon improvements. This deviation from the established norm irked many within the community.

4) Lower Movement Speed

Epic Games introduced a visual treat with new character animations. However, this positive change was accompanied by a controversial reduction in movement speed. Players found themselves traversing the terrain at a sluggish pace, a stark contrast to the dynamic movements they had grown accustomed to. The collective voice of the community reached Epic Games, leading to a movement speed buff in a subsequent update.

5) NPC Bosses

Chapter 5 ushered in a reign of bosses and henchmen, transforming the gaming landscape into a battlefield teeming with adversaries. The frustration peaked with the realization that these NPCs were not limited to specific areas; they lurked everywhere, turning even peaceful locations into war zones. Responding to community concerns, Epic Games reduced the number of guards at Points of Interest, providing some respite to players.

6) Cosmetic menu UI

The overhaul of the locker system, a feature that had undergone multiple redesigns over the years, once again stirred the pot. The new layout, where items switched sides, categories separated, and rarities were removed, faced widespread disapproval.

Following this, the community voiced its dissatisfaction, urging Epic Games to reconsider the design and revert to a format that resonated with players.

7) New healing changes

Medkits, instead of being partially used, are now thrown away after use. The addition of healing while using the item was welcomed by players. However, it brought along a significant drawback. Players found themselves unable to pick up weapons, ammo, or switch slots without forfeiting the med kit. This limitation became a source of frustration within the gaming community.

8) The Storm speed

The storm, a perennial force in Fortnite, changed in Chapter 5, becoming notably faster. Players found themselves trapped in the storm within the first zone, prompting complaints about the unrelenting pace. Coupled with this, a surge in game crashes plagued players across various platforms. The community’s outcry prompted Epic Games to acknowledge the issues and assure players that a fix was imminent.

9) Peter Griffin Skin

On the cosmetic front, the arrival of Peter Griffin from Family Guy generated mixed feelings. While players rejoiced at the long-awaited crossover, the portrayal of Peter Griffin as “buff” stirred a sense of disappointment.

The community also expressed a desire for more characters from the Family Guy universe, notably missing Stewie.
