Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launched last month with various weapon options like pistols, sniper rifles, SMGs and what not. However, most of the players have been using some weapons from its predecessor, especially in the Warzone battle royale. A lot of players have preferred to select one specific shotgun due to its overpowered output. Sadly, it has been finally nerfed by the devs.
Yes, this fan-favorite shotgun has received a big update. But most of the players will surely take a sigh of relief by having it nerfed since it was dominating in the most insane way possible. This article will reveal the reasons behind the devs turning this killing machine into a regular shotgun.

Warzone has had instances of overpowered weapons in the past. For example, there was the DMR, the Mac-10 blueprint, and Snakeshot akimbo pistols. And how can one forget the Cronen Squall battle rifle from MWII? Now, the Lockwood 300 shotgun has lost its dominant performance after the devs recently shared a message on social media. It states that the “use of the Maelstrom Dual Trigger Attachment on the Lockwood 300 Shotgun in public Playlists” has been disabled.

We've deployed an update to disable the use of the Maelstrom Dual Trigger Attachment on the Lockwood 300 Shotgun in public Playlists.
It will remain visible in the Gunsmith but will not be usable in a match.

Simply put, the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment on Lockwood 300 was the reason the shotgun was so overpowered. Players were using it to take down opponents in a single shot.
For the uninitiated, Lockwood 300 had been nerfed down previously before the replacement of Al Mazrah map by Urzikstan in Warzone. However, it came back to its overpowered nature once again. Since then, a lot of COD experts have claimed that it’s become even better while being a go-to option when it comes to scoring one-shot kills.
It seems like the devs were waiting for the right time to drop the much-needed update on Lockwood 300. And they did it just shortly after rolling out the Christmas event ‘CODmas’ in Modern Warfare 3, Zombies, and Warzone.

Coming back to Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment, players will still see it in the gunsmith menu. However, they won’t be able to equip it anymore on Lockwood 300. It used to increase torso damage by over 100 percent, headshot damage by 73 percent, and the damage range by 71 percent.

It will be interesting to see if the devs will change their decision regarding Lockwood 300 or not. For now, it appears that the shotgun will be nerfed. And unless there’s a future update from the makers, fans who want to have a great experience with this weapon will have to wait.
