Sony Has Teased a New Patapon PlayStation Remake in Development!

If you thought Xbox’s schedule of development looks promising, Sony has just a surprise ready for the gaming fans! The PlayStation parent just dropped a ‘Realizing Vision’ feature for the year 2024 and it suggests a Patapon remake is underway! Well, not just a remake, the video teases the gaming fans on a lot of potential Patapon content planned for the coming season. And it’s something much more than Ratatan! 

The iconic rhythmic adventure Patapon has to be one of the most-awaited dues on the new-gen console. Who doesn’t miss the days of vibing to the earworm ‘Pata Pata Patapon’ while playing the game on PlayStation Portable? What better to kick off the new gaming season than to learn we might be experiencing the magic of the Patapon universe again! 

Here’s how Sony dropped the cryptic hint about a possible coming Patapon Remake. 

Is Sony working on Patapon Anime along with a PlayStation Remake? 

The latest Sony upload from the CES 2024 talked about the company’s vision for the new year. It includes the PlayStation parent’s approach towards technological advancements and enhancing the virtual production process. So, the video highlights the importance of working with ‘Torchlight’. The officials state, “We are working with animation, marketing, television, PlayStation. Torchlight is a place where all these divisions of Sony can come and experiment,” in the video. But what’s exciting is we get to see Patapon footage during the address. 

The footage frame reads ‘IP Development Gaming/Anime’ suggesting a game or possibly an Anime is in development with PlayStation. While this subtle tease was enough to spark theories around a Patapon remake, fans also addressed the possibility of an anime adaptation. However, an eagle-eyed user reacting to the source pointed out how the footage has button prompts almost conforming to the theory of a Patapon PlayStation remake in development. 

It is important to note that all these are speculations based on the upload and should be taken with a grain of salt. Although being featured in the official Sony video does add some credibility to the theory. 

Other major updates that caught the eye 

Besides the big Patapon remake tease, Sony did provide another big update. And guess what? It’s about the Gravity Rush movie!

A character can be seen briefly in the video above jumping off a building. After that, the video alternates between film footage and a motion capture scene from the movie. In the final scene, the protagonist plunges into a floating city that is being obliterated by a monstrous, winged enemy. While there’s not much revealed about the Gravity Rush movie, it surely is an exciting update to catch at the CES 2024. 

Regarding God of War on Prime Video and Horizon Zero Dawn on Netflix, Sony provided a brief update stating that scripting was currently in progress for both shows.
