Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been out for almost a month now. The Sledgehammer Games developed Call of Duty installment’s month-long campaign has been quite a bumpy ride. Right from the beta run campaign, fans weren’t satisfied with everything MW3 had to offer. Yet, expectations were still high for the final launch. However, the launch was met with a mixed reception. One of the biggest talking points was the underwhelming Campaign mode, resulting in a lot of heat on the developers’ SHG. But an industry insider has now revealed interesting information that apparently gives a clean bill to SHG!

For a while now, SHG has remained under community scrutiny. After the FPS community had called out Modern Warfare 2 (2022) for being an underwhelming experience, the stakes were high for MW3. Although with the association of SHG, the gamers were confident of an impressive product. While MW3, however, failed to keep up with the expectations, fans didn’t shy away from bringing the heat on Sledgehammer Games. However, in response to a recent industry insight, it looks like SHG is being “sabotaged and scre*ed over!”

According to a credible scoop allegedly working with the parent developers of Call of Duty, MW3 was made in 16 months, Vanguard was made in 8 months, and Sledgehammer Games had to help Treyarch and Raven make Cold War. Sledgehammer Games got pulled off of Vanguard and had to help Treyarch and Raven finish Cold War, stopping them from finishing Vanguard in a better amount of time, leading to the game being made in just 8 months,” the source claimed.

Earlier, an ex-Sledgehammer Games developer had revealed how they were pulled off another project where they would be working on Advanced Warfare 2 or a better sequel to Modern Warfare 2 to make Modern Warfare 3. For a lot of fans, Vanguard had been an average FPS outing. But taking its 8-month development time into consideration, it surely pulled off a commendable job as an overall experience.

Bloomberg reported that the game was made in a hurry to “fill a gap in the release schedule,” as a result of delay with another CoD title. The GM of Call of Duty denied this in a Bloomberg interview, but there were conflicting reports about the same, which suggested ambiguity and leading to some employees even believing the game was meant to be an expansion.

Further, some members of SHG reportedly “felt betrayed by the company because they were promised they wouldn’t have to go through another shortened timeline after the release of their previous game, Call of Duty: Vanguard, which was made under a similarly constrained development cycle.”

So, after the news surfaced across the web, fans sympathized with SHG for taking all the heat despite themselves being a victim of poor scheduling.

Fans are furious

As a user took the news to the Reddit discussions, Call of Duty fans from all around the web joined the rant as they rooted for SHG. To a lot of fans, the poor scheduling and for-granted marketing overshadowed the true potential of what the developers could have offered in MW3.

A user lashed out at Activision for being the center of the issue, writing, It’s all Activision, they’re a shi**y publisher. I would bet money on it that if a different publisher took over CoD it would be a great fun game again just like the old days.”

Another user agreed, stating. Sledgehammer has never been the problem, it’s Activision.”

One user is shocked to realize the time Infinity Ward took to create the predecessor MW2. They wrote, “I’m still baffled that MWII was a 3-year CoD. What the hell was IW doing that whole time? 11 maps at launch? No new maps in Season 1? Museum being removed and then brought back and they counted that as a new map?” However, CoD games reportedly do take around 3 years to make.

Despite all the fuss, a user is hopeful for the future of the CoD franchise, as they believe SHG will get the time they need for their next outing. They’re finally giving Treyarch a full shot for next year. Hopefully shg gets the same for their next game,” they wrote.

Another user brought the heat on Infinity Ward, comparing their MW2 with the recent release.I mean under 16 months they did a lot that Infinity Ward could never do especially when they had 3 years for MW2,” the comment read.
