The record breaking GTA 6 trailer is showing no signs of slowing down. Following its release earlier this week, Rockstar Games‘ first look from its most expensive video game project has amassed 133 million views (at the time of writing). But now, it’s been revealed that the actual impact goes way beyond that.
It’s hard to remember the last time there was a game whose anticipation was as high as what we’re seeing with GTA 6. And as expected, it shattered YouTube viewership records. And beating MrBeast’s record was merely icing on the cake. The GTA 6 trailer’s viewership numbers are much more than the 133 million you can see on YouTube.

To begin with, Trailer 1 for GTA 6 officially became the most watched non-music video on YouTube in the first 24 hours. It went onto amass 93 million views under the first day of reveal. As observed by Guinness World Records, the trailer was “the most sought after video since the release of the Grand Theft Auto V trailer 12 years ago.”
Moving further, the trailer held the number one spot on YouTube’s Trending list for two consecutive days. Usually, any video that arrives on the number one position doesn’t last that long. But this is the magic of Rockstar’s gigantic franchise – it’s got the potential to do the unthinkable.
The clip also broke the record for most liked trailer on YouTube of all time. As of this writing, it has got 10 million likes on the platform – more than the previous record holder. It was the official trailer for 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War movie from Marvel that had over 4 million likes.
But what makes the reveal of GTA 6 trailer even more outstanding is the figure disclosed by YouTube’s team in an official blog. It mentioned that Rockstar’s trailer for its next major open-world game succeeded in receiving over 250 million total views in the first 48 hours. Apart from the main trailer’s view count, the number also combines other content (breakdown and reactions videos) based on the hyped trailer under two days.
“There’s certainly no end to the fandom and there’s no doubt that the series will continue to thrive on YouTube for years to come,” read the blog from YouTube.
Surely this is just the beginning. Starting from Rockstar Games’ most liked gaming post ever to the record shattering trailer, there seems to be a pattern emerging. Will the next GTA 6 trailer continue this trend?
When is Trailer 2 of Grand Theft Auto 6 coming out?
Trailer 1 was released early on December 5, 2023. One can assume that it will be a long time before we see the next big video from Rockstar Games’ team in relation to the awaited game. The impact of the first video is such that fans will surely need some time to absorb it fully before they are ready for the next drop.

But since it’s GTA 6, hardcore fans won’t complain if the makers end up revealing Trailer 2 ahead of a planned schedule once again.
Judging by the way Rockstar Games released trailers for its previous games, the next GTA 6 trailer can come anytime from after 3 months to a year later. For instance, with GTA IV, the second trailer came out in June 2007, 3 months after the first trailer (“Things Will Be Different,” in March 2007). Then, with GTA V, fans waited for a year after the first trailer to get the second trailer. However, the devs could just surprise everyone and drop trailer 2 sooner. You never know.
