Capcom’s success for 2023 is widely associated with the celebrated remake of Resident Evil 4. The GOTY nominee didn’t just surprise the franchise’s fans but also received phenomenal acclaim from the critics. Following the game’s success, the community had been rooting for an update on the Gold Edition of the game for a while now. Well, thanks to Metacritic the wait for the Gold Edition release date announcement has apparently ended!
For a lot of fans who were looking forward to the Golden Edition of Resident Evil 4, Capcom’s silence on the project felt frustrating. In fact, the announced edition seemed like a long shot in the first quarter of 2024. However, the spirits were kept high, and it was about time the fans were rewarded with a tease. It’s happening a lot sooner than most of the players had expected.
Metacritic confirms the launch date of Resident Evil 4 Golden Edition

According to review aggregator Metacritic’s website update, the Gold Edition of Resident Evil 4 is not just confirmed but has a scheduled release date in 2024. It will release on February 9, 2024, for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

Apart from the launch date confirmation, the page doesn’t include any other information on what the pack would include. Gold editions of Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 7 were also produced, along with paid add-ons. With the release of Resident Evil 4, history will probably repeat itself. Looking back at the pattern of Capcom’s golden edition bundles, players will be hopeful to get the Separate Ways DLC at least in the unannounced pack.
While the expectations from the forthcoming edition are high, it would be interesting to see what new Capcom has to offer with a ‘golden rebrand’.

The story of Shadow of Rose, even though with a predictable story line, focused convincingly on the character development of Rose and her guardian angel Michael. Unarguably, the selling point for the DLC was the third-person format. Further, the tension in the add-on seemed more gripping and haunting for the players as compared to the source. And despite complaints of the DLC being too short, the franchise’s fans gave the edition a big thumbs up, calling the add-ons worth the investment.
