GTA 6 has made the entire gaming community hooked ever since Rockstar Games shared an official trailer announcement earlier this month. With every new game in the franchise, Rockstar Games has given fans more and more reasons to fall in love with GTA. And if GTA 5 is any indication, the next title is going to be massive. However, hardcore fans are looking forward to some of the most iconic aspects from the previous instalments in the next Grand Theft Auto.

GTA fans have a lot of fond memories from their experiences, comprising multiple titles. And across multiple GTA titles, there’s been so many features that the games would now feel incomplete without. Guns, cheatcodes, radio are just a few of the many features that make the franchise what it is. But there’s one more. Remember what happens when you die in the game? Now, players want that in GTA 6 too.

‘Wasted’ in GTA 6 needs to be as iconic as GTA V according to hardcore franchise players

The term ‘Wasted’ is used when a player in GTA games dies or is heavily injured after losing all of their health. A sharp sound effect is followed by a screen showing the character’s death. While previous games incorporated the feature in some way or the other, it has evolved with each game. And according to a Reddit discussion, GTA 5 had the “most iconic death screen.”

The Reddit post read, “The WASTED screen. GTA 5 probably had the most iconic death screen in gaming history, the sharp sound effect and the metallic “clank” when Wasted appears. It spawned a ton of memes since 2013. Do you think GTA 6 will have a new memorable Wasted, or same as GTA IV and RDR2?”

Look at the previous games, for instance. San Andreas had wasted in that San Andreas font, Vice City had “wasted!” in green, and GTA III had “Wasted!” on the bottom right, just like in Vice City. And the definitive editions of the mentioned games had Wasted in the middle of the screen, which used to turn red, as though soaked in blood. However, as mentioned in the Reddit post, the wasted screen in GTA 5 was iconic. With the grim, black and white effect and Wasted written on the center of the screen, this has gone down as a favorite version of the screen.

Rockstar Games hasn’t really shared a word on when fans can expect the anticipated game. The mystery around the launch date still continues. However, die-hard players will soon get to see an exclusive trailer.

Sam Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar, has already confirmed that GTA 6 will receive its first-ever trailer next month, in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter). While that’s a good news, there’s still no detail available regarding the date of trailer itself. Take-Two and Rockstar Games are yet to unleash a proper announcement to reveal what one can actually expect out of the ambitious project when it’s ready to hit the shelves.
