Xbox needs to take a page out of it’s rival’s book. When Sony announced the PlayStation 5, they revealed one special game for that console. It was none other than the new-generation remake of the FromSoftware masterpiece Demon’s Souls. The game looked incredible. To this day, it is one of the best-looking games on the PS5. A bunch of remakes have launched for the platform ever since. Now Xbox needs to do the same.

Microsoft has spent a lot of money buying other franchises for Xbox Game Pass. But bringing some of their popular games to modern platforms never came to them. But in case they might consider it, here are a 6 games that would be great on modern platforms if ever remade.

  1. Sunset Overdrive

Before they made Spider-Man games, Insomniac Games made Sunset Overdrive. A game that had everything one would expect to see from a studio known for developing such games full of action and dynamic movement. Sunset Overdrive is a very colorful and funky open-world zombie title that takes a bunch of ideas from the Jet Set radio series of games.

This game launched back in 2014 for the Xbox One console; it eventually made it to the PC too. But it failed to achieve the success and popularity it deserved. Let’s see if Microsoft gives it another chance.

  1. Condemned: Criminal Origins

Horror games are all the rage nowadays. Now that the survival horror genre has finally gained its footing yet again, maybe it’s about time fans got Condemned: Criminal Origins. This game was launched as an Xbox 360 exclusive back in 2005. Coming from Monolith Productions, the makers of the F.E.A.R. series of games, no doubt it showed a lot of promise. And it even lived up to those promises; this first-person horror game was incredible and a success too.

A mix of psychological and survival horror genres, criminal origins still stand as a one-of-a-kind experience. If Microsoft somehow strikes a deal with WB Games to remake it, people will surely be interested.

  1. Crackdown

Microsoft hardly had many games to consider definitely unmissable by gamers. But Crackdown is something very special; at least it was when it launched first back in 2007. Easy transversal through a sprawling open world. There are a bunch of superpowers to use and numerous enemies to defeat. This is the game that a bunch of open-world games like Saints Row took their ideas from.

While they failed miserably when they made the third game, it would be interesting to see the first game return. This is the game that started it all, and it would be incredible if they decided to remake it with better visuals and some altered gameplay mechanics.

  1. Gears of War 3

Before cover-to-cover shooters were a common thing, Epic Games and Microsoft partnered to bring Gears of War to Xbox 360. This game was a gritty shooter set on an alien planet. It featured bulky dudes fighting gritty-looking aliens, cutting them in half using their custom lancers. It was a very dark game too; its sequel was even darker. But the developers made the third game something special altogether. It was more vibrant and colorful, and visually, it was much more appealing.

And this is why it would be incredible if Microsoft decided to bring Gears of War 3 to their modern consoles. There have been rumors of Microsoft working on the remake of the whole series, but let’s hope they turn out to be true.

  1. Perfect Dark Zero

Long ago, Microsoft purchased Rare, and they made that studio develop Perfect Dark Zero. A sequel to this developer’s Perfect Dark was exclusive to N64. The game was even better than its previous installment. As with many previously mentioned games on this list, this one too did not get the attention it deserved, despite being very good-looking and fun to play.

There is a remake in the works at Microsoft for the first game; there are no talks of Perfect Dark Zero, though. But one thing is for sure: if it ever got a remake for a new generation of consoles, it would no doubt be a success.

  1. Scalebound

Years ago, Platinum Games and Microsoft announced a very interesting game called Scalebound. It was a game right up Platinum’s alley, a grand adventure featuring a warrior and a dragon with whom he is somehow connected. Legendary Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya was to direct it. Its development started at Platinum in 2013, and it was canceled for undisclosed reasons in 2017. Even though both Microsoft and Platinum made a bunch of promises before they announced their cancellation.

Now that Microsoft is much more open-minded and open-handed with their money, they could try to get this game going once again. Xbox Series X is the kind of console these massive games should be made for. Let’s hope someone at Microsoft is having a similar thought.
