Gaming is becoming one of the most lucrative industries of them all. Years ago, when GTA V launched and ended up being the fastest-selling entertainment property of all time, defeating Avatar, it started this wave. As the industry grows, so does the technology backing it up. Many developers nowadays invest in a game engine to keep their games ahead of everything else. But others tend to license it from a third party. One such engine is Unreal Engine 5.

After being used in the industry for numerous years over generations, it has finally hit version 5. And this Unreal Engine 5 had already helped design multi-million-dollar games released this year and up for launch in the future, keeping the industry ahead of everything else. Fortnite is the driving force that is pushing Epic Games’ business forward. It’s that Fortnite revenue that goes into purchasing those fancy-free games that Epic Games Store users often get. This means the Battle Royale game has proven very lucrative for the developer and publisher. Hence, they have taken it upon themselves to keep upgrading it.

Bringing new characters and stories to it has become the norm. And that’s why it’s no surprise that they recently updated it with Unreal Engine 5. In fact, it was one of the first games to have Lumen and Nanite implemented in it. These are basically a couple of technologies that can be implemented in-game to improve lighting and geometry in the games.

As a result, this game looks just too good, even on consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. These technologies work without much performance cost. They are basically a cheaper substitute for the usual ray tracing. It’s no surprise Epic Games chose Fortnite as the first game to show off these new technologies to their fans.

Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider is a huge franchise. And like always, the company that owns this property is turning it into a multi-media property. Lara Croft is getting her own Amazon tv series Further, there will be a Tomb Raider reboot movie set in the  same cinematic universe. And then there will be a game based on it. And no doubt developer Crystal Dynamic decided they would use Unreal Engine 5 to develop it.

This was announced when the developer announced the game itself. It’s not even a surprise; it’s going to be a massive game, and it deserves this kind of treatment. It would be incredible to see Lara Croft explore ruins and forests rendered using Unreal Engine 5’s various technologies.

Metal Gear Solid Delta

Konami announced that Virtuos is working on the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. This game is considered to be the best in the series by many fans. And there are a number of reasons behind this. Most importantly, it is the origin story of Big Boss, the anti-hero, whom many see as the main villain of the series.

Secondly, it’s a very unique game in terms of setting and gameplay. It allows for camouflage; it lets players explore a jungle. They kill animals, survive, and keep themselves healthy enough to be able to fight the enemy. The jungle itself is pretty detailed, full of wildlife, soldiers, and ways to hide yourself in leaves or even dirt puddles.

Such a detailed game, when made in Unreal Engine 5, would no doubt be something else. It was even showcased by the developer in a video released a while ago. The game is looking just out of this world, all thanks to Unreal Engine 5.

Silent Hill 2 Remake

Bloober Team, a very celebrated developer of games like Layers of Fear, The Blair Witch, and Observer, is tasked by Konami to helm this remake. Just like with Metal Gear Solid 3, this one too is the most lauded game in the series. Fans still remember Silent Hill 2 as the kind of game that can be very hard to remake. This developer took on this task, and they decided to accomplish it using Unreal Engine 5.

Thanks to its massive fanbase and the newfound interest in this series of games, it would no doubt be a success. They confirmed a bunch of things when this remake was announced, including unique DualSense features for PlayStation 5 gamers, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Then they revealed that Unreal Engine 5 is helping them create “highly-detailed and realistic levels,” which is why they chose this engine.
