And Nintendo is planning to celebrate this special occasion for their primary fighting game, with style. The Ultimate in this game’s name is there for a reason. This game featured almost every character that the Smash Bros. series has seen over the years. So, Nintendo are going big with the celebrations.
Nintendo does not intend to let this occasion slip by unceremoniously. They seem to be planning a very interesting event in regard to this anniversary. And every one who will be participating in this Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event will get not one, not two, but five whole days of celebration.

Nintendo Switch exclusive Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is one of the most successful games on the platform. And many believe the game is indeed the best game in the series. Some might argue that Melee is the best, but unlike Ultimate, it does not have all the characters ever released in the series. This game is also the go-to title for all Nintendo Switch owners who want to have some competitive fun with each other in-game. On December 7, it will complete its fifth anniversary, and Nintendo has planned a special event to celebrate this occasion.

They have set up a five-day spirit event for the fifth anniversary of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. During this event, players will be eligible to earn five times the XP and SP during the battles. They will also get five extra snack (L) items.
Besides this, Nintendo also announced another spirit event that would start in January 2024. This event will bring new spirits to the game. Further, players will get to participate in a tag team tournament using their trained amiibos.
Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash bros. series, also shared a tweet to thank everyone. When translated, the caption reads, ““Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” is celebrating its 5th anniversary today! Has it been that long? It’s been so long. thank you very much. It seems that an event with new spirits will be held here (starting in January). What game is it from?”

This event seems like a dream come true for every Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fan out there. And it’s commendable that after five years of launch, Nintendo is still trying its best to keep its games lively. This is the kind of dedication that would be awesome if it came from every developer that releases a multiplayer game.

This latest update and event would serve as a great reason for fans who left this game behind to return. It is no doubt a great fighting game, but on their own, fighting games often lose their steam. They might be nearing the announcement of their new console, the Nintendo Switch 2, which would probably receive its own version of Smash Bros.
