Discussions regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 are picking up steam yet again. Recently, an analytic company made a very interesting comment regarding Nintendo’s upcoming console. They suggested that Nintendo would go against its instincts and release a new iteration of the Nintendo Switch instead of making something revolutionary. They have also suggested that this console would probably cost somewhere around $400. If there’s truth to any of this, then the Switch 2 will have to be revolutionary. How can the Switch live up to the anticipation?
These are some very interesting things to know. It’s even more interesting given how the price does not seem like an exaggeration. This is how pricing usually works; the new versions often get a price hike of $100 to $200. But the question is, what would the Nintendo Switch 2 bring to the table for that price?
Here’s a list of the most wanted Nintendo Switch 2 features!

1) Backward Compatibility
Without a doubt, backward compatibility is the most anticipated feature of Switch 2. Players all over the world who have a Nintendo Switch have a huge collection of this console’s games. They would not want to carry two different consoles with them on their outings. Hence, the Switch 2 needs to have backward compatibility.
It has been hinted at a bunch of times by a number of leakers. Let’s hope it’s also for eShop games and not limited to physical carts.
2) A performance mode for original Switch titles
The Nintendo Switch is a successful console that supports thousands of games. But there are some games on this console that can only be described as little miracles. For example, the Nintendo Switch versions of The Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal. These games run on it, yes, but they give up so much. The visuals are pretty washed up, and if one manages to look past the visuals, the framerate is hardly stable.
If the new console has backward compatibility and if it comes with a boost mode like the PS5 did for PS4 games. These games might at least get a stable 30 FPS. Heck, the developers might even unlock the framerate. With an update, one can finally experience Doom at full 60FPS on the Nintendo Switch 2!
3) Better controllers
Joy-Cons are outstanding. These small controllers make so many things possible. On-the-go offline co-op and Wii-like gaming experience—that cool HD rumble are just some of the things they make possible. But they also have flaws. For one, they do not have a very good grip, or a real d-pad. And the biggest culprit of them all is the drift. Joy-Con drift is an issue that plagues these controllers to this day. Yes, Nintendo has started a free repair program, but this means sending a controller to Nintendo and waiting for a few days for it to come back.
Nintendo has to fix this, especially when they bring out a new model of these controllers for that new console.
4) DLSS Support
Yes, this one was not on the list of Nintendo fans before, but the rumors quickly made them all hyped for it. DLSS is Nvidia’s machine learning technology that upscales a game’s visuals to a higher resolution. This also allows the game to run at a lower resolution than native and saves power. All these things then lead to a better-looking game and a more stable framerate.
A number of reports have suggested that Nvidia’s T239 chip would power Nintendo’s upcoming console. This chip is supposedly built upon the same chipset as Nvidia’s RTX GPUs. Which is why the suggestions for DLSS support surfaced in the first place.
5) Analog Triggers
Analog triggers are a fun little feature that does wonders for some and nothing for others. For those unaware of these things, analog triggers have long travel. They do not click like Joy-Con triggers; they travel, and how far they are pushed does different things in games. For example, if one is playing a driving game, they can press the trigger very slowly to just rev the car. And if they want to start driving, they have to press it all the way; this feature works like a charm in Forza Horizon games.

Analog triggers being included by default on Joy-Cons would give developers more ways to be creative with gameplay mechanics.
