Since its original debut more than a decade ago, the open-world game has been a popular title to enjoy on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Sadly, Switch players have been devoid of this experience. But now, it appears their long wait might end soon.
At least that’s what appears to be the case going by a wild rumor. GTA 5 on Nintendo Switch has been speculated for a long time now. Since the last few years, scoopers have made claims regarding the title’s arrival on the handheld device. But Rockstar’s team has offered no official word so far despite heavy requests. So what’s special about the newest rumor regarding this possibility?

Everyone’s aware by now that the source codes connected to GTA 6 (also GTA 5) have been reportedly sold. It’s been an unfortunate incident for Rockstar Games. The studio is currently busy on making its next project a great open-world experience. But the leaks tend to just pop out every now and then.
Recently, an insider on social media platform X shared a post regarding Nintendo Switch. He wrote that “code lines” have been found in relation to a Switch port of GTA 5. These codes are supposed to be from the recently leaked data.
According to the insider Budzcario, a GTA 5 port for Nintendo Switch is in the works, and “it is definitely coming”. But is this information enough to believe that the possibility will become a reality soon?

That’s the exact question many players may have after seeing the aforementioned post. If one has to think about the code lines from a different perspective, it could be the case that they are referring to a canceled project. Maybe a Switch port of GTA 5 was in the works previously but it’s not anymore. That might be a possibility as well, right?

But again, this is just another speculation. No one can’t really say anything unless there’s a substantial update revealed from either Nintendo or Rockstar Games. Speaking of the latter, it seems highly unlikely right now that the studio will announce the port for the Switch.

Rockstar might consider this point to eventually come up with a Nintendo Switch port of GTA 5. However, how it will perform is still a mystery due to the hardware limitations. Yes, the game is from 2013 but it’s demanding when it comes to utilizing the components in a machine. That’s one of the key reasons it hasn’t been announced for the console yet. Will this static situation change in 2024? Fans will have to wait to get an answer.
