Call of Duty has suddenly started trending online thanks to a recent leak from a reliable source. Not to mention that fans have been excited over the possibility of getting back-to-back games in the Black Ops franchise. To be precise, the leak is regarding Call of Duty 2025 from Treyarch Studios – rumored developer behind 2024’s Black Ops Gulf War.

However, there seems to be confusion in relation to the leaked information. It appears some of the hardcore fans of Black Ops universe have come up with their own theories ever since the leak first surfaced online. They believe that 2025’s COD game will be a remastered version of 2012’s iconic Black Ops 2. But is it really the case?

No, there’s not going to be a Black Ops 2 remaster. In fact, the leaked information states that Call of Duty 2025 will be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2. Surprisingly, few players recently assumed that the decade-old game will be re-released by Treyarch with enhanced graphics.

So what’s the exact situation here? If one has to go by the leaked details, as per Insider Gaming, Call of Duty 2025 will get remastered maps based on Black Ops 2. Yes, the maps from the past installment will reportedly come back. To name a few, fans can see areas like Standoff, Nuketown 2025, Magma and more. Moreover, the game will feature its own original maps alongside the nostalgic map pack.

That’s pretty much the actual information regarding the leak over COD 2025. It looks like some some players, out of excitement, ended up assuming the fan-favorite game from 2012 is getting a remaster – sadly, that’s not happening.

Speaking more about Call of Duty 2025, it was previously set to feature all the launch maps based on Black Ops 2. The plan was to follow the pattern similar to how 2009’s maps of MW2 were brought back in Modern Warfare 3 at launch. The game received 16 remastered areas in Multiplayer last month on its debut.

But the move was not appreciated by many. They complained that there were no original MW3 maps at all apart from the nostalgic locations. Probably that’s the main reason why COD 2025 is said to have both remastered and new maps at launch. Moreover, Treyarch’s title is also expected to bring back classic Pick-10 Create a Class system from older games. Plus, the round-based zombies experience is also confirmed. As far as the story is concerned, it will take place in the year 2030 – five years after the events of Black Ops 2.
