Following reports of “lags” and “micro freezing”, a hot fix solution soon surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) which helped many players enjoy a seamless experience while gaming on the portal. The insider provided a simple solution to fix the issue. The post read, “if you are experiencing little lags or micro freezing, disable HDCP in your HDMI settings.” And players can do the same by following these steps.

  • Navigate to the main menu of your PlayStation Portal to access system settings.
  • Scroll to the “Settings” option, typically represented by a gear or toolbox icon.
  • Within the Settings menu, locate and select “System Settings.” This is the hub for adjusting various system-related configurations. There will be a subcategory called HDMI that players will need to navigate to.
  • Within HDMI settings, find the HDCP option, a security feature designed to protect copyrighted content.
  • Select the HDCP option, where players will find a toggle or selection to enable or disable it. Choose to disable HDCP. If prompted, confirm the changes by selecting “Yes” or “Confirm” to disable HDCP.
  • After making the changes, restart the PlayStation Portal to ensure the new settings take effect.

After restarting the device, players can test gameplay or video playback to see if lag or micro-freezing issues have improved.
