Shift-Up’s PS5 Stellar Blade is expected to release on April 26, 2024. Being a timed console exclusive, it will eventually come to PC as well. This was initially scheduled to be released in 2023. Interestingly, this theory is connected to another PS exclusive, which was revealed by Sony not too long ago. Its release pattern can shed some light on what fans can expect for Shift-Up’s most wanted PS5 title of 2024.
For the uninitiated, Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding was not a first-party exclusive for PlayStation when it came out more than four years ago. It was a third-party console exclusive that Sony published. Hence, it was initially slated to come out on PlayStation before other platforms.

As part of the January 2024 State of Play presentation, Stellar Blade’s new trailer revealed impressive visuals alongside a ton of fast-paced slashy gameplay. Originally, Death Stranding was released for PS4 on November 8, 2019. The PC port came out a little over 8 months later. Developer 505 Games was behind the PC version of Death Stranding. The game was launched on PC on July 14, 2020.

Shift Up previously revealed that Stellar Blade’s story will focus on a young woman as she fights off strange alien monsters called Natives who have invaded Earth. Its most recent trailer from two years ago gave us a look at the in-game location Xion, which is described as the ‘last remaining city on Earth.’
Now, what one can look at is the duration taken by Death Stranding to arrive from PlayStation to PC. It took less than a year (under 9 months) to release for PC owners, being a third-party timed exclusive.
The clue lies with Death Stranding
Taking Death Stranding as an example, it can be assumed that Stellar Blade may also be released on PC in less than a year after coming out on PS5 in 2024. Simply put, players may witness it on digital storefronts like Steam or Epic Games Store at some point in 2025. The exact timing will solely depend on when it will drop for PS5 in 2024.
But the overall difference should be less than a year, compared to 2 years for first-party PlayStation exclusives. Titles like Days Gone (2019), God of War (2018), Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020), Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (2021) and Returnal (2021) are prime examples. All of them came to PC almost after two years – in some cases, the gap was over four years.

However, due to technical reasons and the development process taking more time, the studio pushed it further. It wants to harness the amazing capabilities of PS5 hardware in order to give players a stunning, visually spectacular experience. Now Stellar Blade fans will only have one concern for 2024’s anticipated PS5 exclusive which is the censorship as Sony happens to be one of the rare (and possibly only) publishers to censor games.
