Xbox really hit its stride in 2023. Well, that has just been the case for first-party games! We’ve had surprises like Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Forza Motorsport, and of course, Starfield. The range of offerings made by Xbox has been nothing less than phenomenal. It has been a showcase of variety and quality from the Microsoft powerhouse. But now that we’re in a new year, where do they go from here?

While there have been some big confirmations already made on what to expect from Xbox in 2024, some awaited titles still remain under the sheets. Now, with an Xbox Developer Direct being just around the corner, the discussions about the platform’s roadmap are hot. The stakes have never been higher for the console giant, as they have a magical year to follow-up to. Certainly, the early signs tell no different story.

The roadmap of Xbox stretches beyond a decade. This means some of the announced titles may be eyeing a release on next-generation hardware. Makes you wonder what big celebrated launches could Microsoft pull off. What’s more interesting is the fact that the developers are evidently carrying the pattern from 2023. A developer is directly teasing the next layout for Xbox. This doesn’t mean we’ll be getting another Hi-Fi Rush surprise, but here’s every big game reports suggest would see the light in 2024.

  • South of Midnight

A date was never put against the incredible-looking South of Midnight and it has been under the sheets ever since. There have been reports on Xbox working on this crazy-looking adventure since 2020. However, it only came under the public spotlight after its striking reveal at the Xbox Showcase 2023.

Although there hasn’t been much to feed on this promising-looking single-player, there’s a strong possibility we’ll see much more of South of Midnight this year. In fact, a surprise release of the game also looks highly plausible as per the rumors.

  • Everwild

Remember the iconic glimpse of Everwild back in 2019? The latest reports suggest there has been a lot happening in the game’s development. Rare developed action-adventure has witnessed a lot of turbulence in the production lately.

From change in leadership to the game allegedly being subjected to a total reboot, Everwild has seen it all. Fortunately, the recent theories around the Rare project are some good signs for the adventure. The developers are eyeing the 2024 release window.

  • Contraband

Coming from Avalanche Studios in partnership with Xbox Games Studios, Contraband is a cooperatively focused smugglers’ paradise set in a fictional 1970s universe. The trailer, originally revealing the game back in 2021, suggested a focus on heists and general criminal enterprise all set in the open world to plan and execute world based shenanigans with friends.

Contraband in 2024 looks possible because the developers haven’t released anything since Rage 2 in 2019. It’s about time they gifted the fans with another epic adventure with the likes of Contraband.

  • Forza Horizon 6

Until the pandemic, the Forza Horizon series had followed an affirmative pattern of release. The racing adventure follow-ups graced the markets every two years since their debut in 2012. Now, with the last release being in 2021, and the world looking at new chapters to explore, Forza Horizon 6 could be the solution. Considering the developers are currently working on two games separately, one being Forza Horizon 6 and the other being Fable, one is likely to be released in 2024.

This unfortunately also means Fable is scheduled for 2025, earliest in the first quarter of next year.
