The Nintendo Switch is a very popular console. The reason for the same can be credited to several factors. First, it has a wide range of exciting exclusives. Second, it is easy to use; gamers can take it anywhere and that makes it more versatile. It’s an ideal console for gamers who are always on the move and gamers who like playing co-op anywhere they want.

A video game console with such a dynamic feature set is bound to allow gamers to use whatever controller they want. Therefore, it isn’t surprising to see that the Nintendo Switch allows for the same. Consequently, there are so many options to choose from.

  1. Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

Yep, Nintendo’s own Switch Pro controller would be the best option for anyone out there. This controller is everything one would expect from a larger version of Switch’s Joy-Cons. With hours of battery life and a stronger version of Switch’s own HD rumble feature, it delivers a wholesome experience; especially, the addition of that much-needed NFC.

If one is not on the lookout for anything too out of the ordinary, this is what they should go for.

  1. Hori Split Pad Pro

Hori debuted these controllers with Daemon Ex Machina. That Mech fighting game needed players to make some quick movements and required some fast button presses. These controllers were introduced as part of a partnership between the developer of that game and the manufacturer of these controllers. These chunky replacements for the usual Joy-Cons are special in their own way.

They are huge, easy to hold, and comfortable to use. However, they miss a few things as they lack rumble support. They also lack wireless connectivity and the NPC. One can say they are simply a couple of bare-bones controllers. So, if one is looking for a portable pair of controllers with a comfortable grip, these are the ones to get.

  1. 8BitDo Pro 2

There are some brands that try to be jacks of all trades, such as HORI. On the other hand, there are some brands that find a niche and just keep working at it till they perfect it. That’s where 8BitDo comes in. They have been making controllers for retro consoles and the Nintendo Switch for a long time. And 8BitDo Pro 2 is one such controller. It is basically a third-party Bluetooth-based replacement for the official Pro controller.

It has rumble, it has a customizable set of buttons, and it has a very long-running battery. But it has a big con too: despite being a replacement for the original Pro controller, this one lacks the ability to wake Switch from sleep mode when docked. On the other hand, the Switch Pro controller can do it. It is a great controller for those who are okay with this small issue.

  1. GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro

Yet another Switch Pro controller rival. This one looks a bit fancier, more or less like one of those Xbox controllers. This one too has rumble, wireless connectivity, and much more. But, the most interesting feature of this controller is its NFC support. Yes, finally, a third-party controller that supports NFC.

Besides, this controller natively supports PC, Mac, iOS, and Android too. This is no doubt an all-rounder and totally worth its price.

  1. 8BitDo Ultimate Controller

Now, this is a noteworthy controller. It features everything that 8BitDo Pro 2 brings to the table. While it lacks NFC support, it brings some very interesting features to the table. For one, this controller comes with a couple of back paddles. Those paddles can be remapped, and any button can be set to those paddles. It makes for an interesting set of controls.

It also comes with a 2.4GHz dongle if one wants a seamless connection. Bluetooth is not always as reliable as one might think; it gets disconnected and sometimes faces disruption too. The dongle gives gamers a strong connection. Also, PC, Android, and iOS support are just some of the standard features of this controller.

  1. NYXI Wizard Wireless Joy-Pad

NYXI became one of the first manufacturers to develop a unique design. They basically gave fans what they had been dreaming of for a very long time. A pair of Joy-Cons that look like GameCube controllers. They look cool, act like regular Joy-Cons, feature analog triggers, and come in two variants: normal and rechargeable. The latter of those gives players hours and hours of battery backup.

These controllers also come with a special feature—a pair of Hall Effect joysticks. These joysticks cannot get rid of that infamous drift issue that troubles the usual pair of Joy-Cons.

  1. 8BitDo USB Adapter 2

Ever wondered how it would feel to use any random controller with your Switch? Xbox controller, a PlayStation controller, or any other controller with Bluetooth support? This is the thing to buy. This small dongle would allow gamers to connect any odd controller to their Switch and play games using it.
