Rockstar Games’ GTA 6 trailer is just 2 days away. The hype among fans is unreal, and why not? It has been over a decade since the last GTA installment. While players across the globe are looking forward to its release, last generation console owners will be concerned. After all, most of the recent big games released only on the latest gen consoles.
There’s no doubt that the next Grand Theft Auto will arrive on next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. One can even see it coming to the PC after some time following the initial launch. But with respect to the previous generation of gaming hardware, we don’t know yet if PS4 and Xbox One users will get to enjoy the game.

The last game in the open-world franchise, GTA V, is currently available across all three generations of consoles. Last year, they launched it for the next-gen consoles, namely PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with new features and upgrades. The single-player mode of the entry is available across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. On the other hand, its multiplayer version is not there anymore on PS3 and Xbox 360.
But talking about GTA V’s Multiplayer experience on next-gen consoles, it differs a lot from previous devices such as PS4 and Xbox One. Additions like Ray Tracing, GTA+ subscription service, and other features are only available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X\S due to their advanced hardware capabilities.
Based on Rockstar Games’ focus on bringing intensive graphical changes going forward, it seems unlikely for GTA 6 to release on PS4 and Xbox One. Why? Because they won’t be able to deliver the performance similar to the newer devices and even PC. With the amount of Power required to run most of the latest games, the PS4 will probably get fried trying to run a game like GTA 6, which will surely be much bigger than GTA V.
Of course, there’s no official news on this yet. However, there are chances of the developer sharing an update on these lines soon.

Speaking of the setting, the game is expected to be set in a larger area while having a map bigger than the previous installments. The title will reportedly include major cities alongside several minor cities for various side quests. And the highlight here is that the game could take us back to Vice City.
Moving on, the game is rumored to be available for pre-orders from December 12, 2023. As for the actual launch date, though, there’s no detail available right now. Scoopers believe it may arrive at some point in 2024. But that’s something one needs to take with a grain of salt at the moment.
