The situation regarding the massive GTA 6 leak has taken a dark turn lately. In short, the next year won’t likely begin on a positive note for Rockstar Games, if the latest rumor is anything to go by. It seems like someone’s going to make all the assets based on the upcoming game public by releasing the entire leaked source code.
Yes, that’s not a plain rumor, but there appears to be substantial proof attached to it. For the uninitiated, a major GTA 6 leak occurred back in September 2022. One year after the infamous incident, more details were revealed this week, based on the original leak. However, now it’s been revealed that the complete size is way too large and might ruin the entire experience of playing the next Grand Theft Auto when it releases in 2025.

The popular account ‘GTA 6 News’ on social media platform X recently dropped a post. It claimed that a “full 200GB file is about to get released of which it may include GTA 6 assets.” The post was shared in relation to a screenshot from a Telegram message by an individual. Apparently, this person seems to have the entire source code data for the next Grand Theft Auto. Now, he wants to sell the data and “make it public”.

What’s crucial to note is the size, which is 200 GB. It may comprise all the footage and more details for the game that haven’t been leaked so far. Last year, about 90 clips went public and reportedly featured the protagonists Lucia and Jason exploring the new open-world map of Vice City.
But if the latest rumor is actually true—and it seems like it is—the entire gameplay design of GTA 6 will be available to the public. This means everyone on the internet will get to access the content planned for the installment by Rockstar Games. That’s extremely unfortunate for the developer as well as all the hardcore fans who were hoping for no more leaked content.

Going by reports, the currently available GTA 6 content leaked by the hackers so far is only around 4.7 GB in size. One can’t even imagine the scope of leaks surfacing in the future if someone gets their hands on a 200 GB file.

Several insiders recently revealed that the original source code was bought for $2,000 by a group from the modding community. One of the members happens to be Kieron Austin. Per the reports, he didn’t actually pay any money and got the codes for free. Later, he tried to sell them for nearly $6,000 to scam other people but failed. Then, he also tried to sell the leaked data for $199 and $500 to individuals on Discord.

Moreover, it’s still not clear who the hacker actually is behind the aforementioned message on Telegram. It will be intriguing to see the action from the team at Rockstar Games in the next few days. After all, they can’t sit and see the entire game going public before it’s even out.
