Craig Mazin, the creator of The Last of Us HBO series, in an interview with EW, expressed how the makers want Season 2 to be a different experience than Part 2. “It will be different just as this season was different [from the first game],” he continued. “Sometimes it will be different radically, and sometimes it will be [barely] different at all. But it’s going to be different and it will be its own thing. It won’t be exactly like the game. It will be the show that Neil and I want to make. But we are making it with Bella.”
Ramsey will play an older version of Ellie in season 2. There’s a time jump of 5 years, which makes Ellie around 19. While fans are no doubt thrilled about this, some are anxious as they believed the role would have been recast considering the time jump. We’ve seen it before. For instance, in House of The Dragon which saw a 10 year time jump, accompanied by new actors. But that won’t be the case with TLOU season 2.

Responding to such claims, Mazin said, “I’m like, ‘It doesn’t matter. Watch! Just watch what happens.’ And now they know.” He further stated, “I think there is still this constant drumbeat of anxiety. All I can say to people is, I have so much anxiety myself about doing a good job on this. Just know I am also very anxious. If you’re anxious about something, I’m probably anxious about it, which means we’re talking about it and thinking about it.”
Given the success of season 1, including their dominance at the Emmy’s, one can only imagine how the team will bring season 2 to our tv screens. Without spoiling anything, the journey in season 2 will be dark and intense with new characters, a gripping story and more violence as well. Expect more infected which is of course, without which it wouldn’t be The Last of Us.
