Everyone buys a subscription to Xbox Game Pass to be able to try out new games before they have to buy them. And Microsoft usually delivers. Further, they end up featuring a bunch of games on their service. Some of them appear on it at launch, while others do so after a month or two. But one thing is for sure: the Xbox Game Pass library refreshes on a monthly basis. And this month too, they have added a bunch of new games to this subscription service.
With this library of games increasing by the day, it must get hard for gamers to decide which game they would want to play. To solve that problem, here are a few must-play games on Xbox Game Pass this December.
Remnant II

Soulslikes have literally taken over the gaming industry. Ever since FromSoftware found success with their Souls series of games, there has been no shortage of lookalikes. Big or small, most developers try to recreate that magic through their games. But do they succeed? Some of them do. Games like Surge 2 and Lies of P are a couple of examples.
But one developer wanted to take that formula to a new level. They decided to do away with the old close-quarter combat of their usual soullike titles and added guns to it. Machine guns, handguns, shotguns, and sniper rifles are your friends in Remnant II. It was released in July 2023 and was an instant success.
Players roam around different dimensions, shooting monsters, defeating bosses, leveling up, and finding new gear. This game is one of the most fun but hard experiences one can have on Game Pass right now.
Dead Space
Horror games made a massive comeback this year. And Dead Space was the game that became the first link in this chain. It is a remake of a space survival horror game released back in 2008. Like the original, this remake is very well done. It does not always rely on jump scares and gives players enough ammunition to just get by. The fear in this game does not come from the monsters jumping out of the dark. Rather, it comes from seeing that one is running low on ammo. Imagine being surrounded by a number of monsters and running out of ammo.
It has an incredible story too, one that would keep players on their toes till the very end. It is such a rewarding experience that once they are done, they will want to jump right back in.
SteamWorld Build
City-building games are a dime a dozen in every storefront out there. Even the Xbox Game Pass has Cities: Skylines II. But not all games give the feeling of participating in an expanded universe while they design their city. The SteamWorld Build gives you that feeling. It is set in the universe that Image & Form games developed over the years. And Thunderful Development has taken it upon themselves to take this series forward.
In Build, as the name suggests, players build a city—a steam-powered city, complete with small amusement parks and train tracks. In the underground, players also have to manage their own mines. This mine management also has some tower defense mechanics cooked into it, which means three games in one might end up being an anxiety-fueled nightmare for some and a fun rollercoaster ride for others. Nevertheless, it’s an excellent city-building game that everyone should try once.
Lies of P
If you ever wondered if Bloodborne was any good, this is the game that has the answer. It is basically a spiritual successor to that masterpiece. Even if Lies of P takes most of its ideas from Bloodborne, the way it has done that is an excellent feat. Made using Unreal Engine 4, it’s as beautiful as one might have ever imagined a Bloodborne game to look.
On the other hand, its combat mechanics are just insane. The developers have nailed everything, specifically the hitboxes. This means your dodges would be just perfect.
Mineko’s Night Market

A social simulation game usually involves talking to people, asking the right questions, giving the right answers, and just being good to everyone in general. But Mineko’s Night Market has much more than that. It has stealth, exploration of a vast island, crafting, a very interesting narrative, and lots and lots of cats.
