Square Enix has kicked off the New Year with a much-awaited Final Fantasy 16 update! For a while now, fans have been speculating about the progress of the second DLC for FF 16 as well as a PC Port. However, following the massive revelation at The Game Awards 2023, there hasn’t been much to feed on for the community. Until now!

One of the highlight announcements made at TGA 2023 was when Square Enix launched the first DLC and gave a sneak peek at the second one. While the announcement came with the disappointing news that there wouldn’t be a sequel, they announced 2 DLCs, the first of which is out, much to the delight of players. Now the producer has spoken about the second DLC, Rising Tide, a PC port, and another upcoming game.

Naoki Yoshida, the producer of FF16 through his New Year greetings, has invited the attention of all the action-adventure fans. Besides giving updates on the second DLC content and PC Port, he also teased a “brand new adventure” in the Final Fantasy 16 universe. Following the success of ‘Echoes of the Fallen’, ‘Rising Tide’ doesn’t look far away!

A segment of the published statement read, We’ll be hard at work in 2024 making the second piece of DLC for FFXVI as well as the game’s PC version. And that’s not all: after the FFXIV fan festival in Tokyo, we’ll be taking you all on a brand-new adventure in FINAL FANTASY XIV: Dawntrail.”

‘The Rising Tide’ DLC aims to achieve even more than the ‘Echoes of the Fallen’ DLC, which brought players to the Sagespire to face Omega in what is arguably one of the best and most visually stunning boss fights in the game. In addition to challenging players to defeat the fabled sea serpent Leviathan, ‘The Rising Tide’ will also unveil a brand-new area called Misidia. But what else can the players expect in the second DLC?

Back in December 2023, the game producer, Naoki Yoshida, had mentioned how the first DLC mostly focused on combat, while the second one would feature areas as large as some of the ones seen in the main game. “The setting for the second part of the DLC seems to be north of Northreach, in the Macleod Durow Hills, beyond the mysterious mass visible across the sea,” Yoshida said when talking about the setting of the second DLC.

He further added, “The second part of the DLC will have a different theme, so we’re leaving the exploration of the sky civilization at this point. Many people have been curious about the sky civilization since playing the main game, but we deliberately didn’t reveal everything in the first part of the DLC.”

Moving on from the DLC, the producer also extended his gratitude to the community for making the Final Fantasy brand witness such a peak in the past year. But with the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth being just around the corner, it looks like Square Enix’s action fever won’t be ending in 2024 either.

2024 to be the busiest year for the FF universe with Dawntrail and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

While the PC Port for the PlayStation exclusive doesn’t have a launch window yet, the recent statements made by the producer suggest it’s not too far away. Besides, for the second DLC, the developers have already announced a schedule for Spring 2024. The details on the second DLC addition are still awaited after the big on-stage revelation at TGA 2023. But that’s not it!
