It’s been a long while since Crytek confirmed the successor of Crysis 3. However, the progress of the project remained unknown, until now! Finally, the FPS enthusiasts who had been looking forward to the fourth installment of the celebrated adventure FPS series have an official update. For almost two years now, the game has been kept under wraps. Now, the developers have spoken.
Ever since Crytek made the announcement for Crysis 4 in January 2022, fans have been invested in reminiscing about the days of Crysis 3 back in 2013. However, with a total radio silence after the announcement, there were theories on whether the project was still in development. Of course, if these speculations had turned out to be true, it would have been a big loss for the FPS community. Fortunately, that won’t be the case anymore as a Crytek developer has officially confirmed the project is underway.
Crysis 4 has a “great team working on it”

In a recent interview, David Fifield, General Manager of Crytek, gave an intriguing insight on the future of Crysis 4. The manager, when asked about the radio silence on the FPS sequel, said, “Crysis 4 is currently still in development and we have a great team working on it! We will update once we have more details on it down the line.”

Obviously, this doesn’t give much of an idea on how far the development has progressed. But still, the statements made by the general manager invited celebrations from all around the community for just a simple reason. It’s still happening! Well, this confirmation was enough to spark some other theories about what the forthcoming installment might have to offer to the fans.

With its sophisticated, flexible gameplay, sumptuous graphics, formidable scope, and flawless multiplayer implementation, Crysis 3, in all of its meticulous engineering and design, had everything that appealed to an FPS enthusiast. So due to all that, and addtionally, its popularity, when Crytek made the announcement to revive the decade-old brand, expectations were sky-high.

Further, let’s not forget the teaser that was dropped during the announcement period convinced the fans of a promising and immersive FPS experience. Something fresh that the players have been rooting for in the genre lately. A few of the hints that were allegedly dropped in the short CGI trailer became a popular Reddit discussion for a while. A lot of the players claimed that Crysis 4 might be a soft reboot of the trilogy in an innovative style. Moreover, the tagline that read “time to join the journey,” fueled the theory of the game aiming to adapt to a live co-op format.

However, with time, the discussions changed into a debate of whether the fans would be even getting to experience the game. Now, with an update from the studio GM, a possible launch window for the game certainly seems anywhere around 2025 or the second half of 2024.
