Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 is ‘bringing out the big guns’. Of course, the slang stands true for the promising trailer dropped for Season 1 Warzone by the developers but might also be implemented ‘literally’ in the update. For a while now, the CoD players have complained about how SMGs haven’t felt at the best of their potential in MW3 yet. Well, good news, fellow gamers! The developers, with the innovative December 6 update, are set to change the game for the community’s favorite weapon!

The latest installment of Call of Duty has been a popular subreddit discussion throughout its month-long campaign. From constant bug reports to poor implementation of new features, the initial reception hasn’t been what the developers would have hoped. Despite such mixed responses, MW3 has managed to dominate gaming trends. But with Season 1, the stakes are high, as the FPS fans believe it’s redemption time for MW3. Following a convincing trailer drop, players are now gearing up for a more balanced weapon system in the game, and here’s why.

The core multiplayer gameplay in Season 1 is introduced, along with four new maps for the upcoming season. While three of these new maps would be functional for 6v6 gameplay, one would cater to the 2v2 experience.

  • Meat
  • Greece
  • Rio
  • Training Facility (2v2)

The focal point of Meat revolves around a slaughterhouse featuring elements that distinguish the map with its unique name. Set in a West Coast environment, the exterior provides excellent sniping opportunities, while the interior caters to intense close-quarters combat. Greece introduces valuable verticality, where a playground intertwines through narrow alleys, extending from rooftops to canals. Season 1 promises new and thrilling weapons, along with movement updates, enhancing the immersive exploration of Urzikstan.

What’s more interesting is the fact that the makers’ have branded the new maps as ‘more fast-paced’.

So, could this mean Call of Duty has finally adhered to the fan demands of bringing back the importance of SMGs in the game? Apparently, the faster-paced games could potentially turn out to be a ‘game-changing’ aspect for weapon balancing in MW3.

Among all the aspects that have failed to appeal to the FPS community in the new Call of Duty title, the underutilization of SMGs has been a major issue. According to the players, the SMG weapons seemed futile against ARs and BAS in the gameplay.

During a viral Reddit discussion on the same, a user stated, “I feel like there needs to be some major rebalancing. ARs are better than just about everything else in every situation.” The weapon balancing obviously has a lot to do with the maps they feature. Thus, a more paced world-building would certainly add more value to the lost beast in Modern Warfare 3.
