Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is the highly anticipated game from Ubisoft based on James Cameron’s film series. The game is a sequel to the original Avatar: The Game released back in 2009 and is a huge technological advancement. The game is set to be released tomorrow, December 7, and it looks like the Metacritic scores are already in.

Most of the reviews of the game from reputed sources have made the fans eager to see what Ubisoft has planned with Avatar. The game is finally ready for its release after a huge delay postponing the release from 2022. Now that the game is almost out, multiple gaming critics have their verdict on the game.

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is a stunning game where players get to explore the lands of Navi. Players can get into their Avatar and explore the continuation of the story that was left to be continued back in 2009.

Just like the movie, the sequel to the game was released over a decade after the original. The game and movie received critical acclaim for their original and sequels. The game received an overall Metacritic score of 73 with an Opencritic score of 71. Along with that, publications like TheGamer and VGC gave the game a 4/5 rating. GamesRadar ended up giving the game a 3.5/5 rating.

Most of the reviews spoke about the vast open world that players can explore in the game. Some criticism about the story not being up to the mark has also been made. Gamespot gave the game 8/10 along with the VideoGamer website. The game did spectacularly well in the Destructoid review, gaining it a 9/10 rating. A similar rating was received from XboxEra at 8.8/10 ratings. Some of the lowest scores the game has received were from Digital Trends and Stevivor which were 6/10 and 5/10 respectively.

The reason for the delay

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora was first announced in 2017, and later in 2022, we finally saw a trailer. While the game was set to release the year the trailer came out, Ubisoft withheld the game to polish it until what they mean by perfection. Originally, the game was slated for a winter 2022 release, aligning with the release of Avatar 2 to leverage the combined hype. This plan did not work out as the team decided that the game was not ready for the public yet.

After the original announcement of the game, the world saw a global lockdown in 2020. This impacted the gaming sector too with developers losing access to working in the studio. This amounted to many games facing delays, and with Ubisoft having more than 1 AAA title IP to manage, this project was tended to next.
