GTA V has aged like fine wine! The last launch under the Grand Theft Auto franchise, even after a decade, remains among the favorites of the community. While there are plenty of reasons that make it a ‘special gaming experience’, there’s always something more to explore in the game. Recently, an Easter Egg from GTA V has garnered strong community attention. And it might be something a lot of players would have missed. So, let’s revisit possibly the most heart-warming Easter egg in the Rockstar open world.
Who doesn’t love Easter eggs? Be it movies or games, they’re everywhere. And Rockstar Games is among the very few game developers who have mastered the art. Easter Eggs are always fun to spot in video games as they bring an element of discovery and surprise to the table. Moreover, finding hidden references and nods to some real-life stories or incidents adds a layer of connection to the players, making the virtual world more immersive and engaging. But very rarely can these references make you feel overwhelmed with emotions.
If you plan a visit around 11 am (in-game time) at the Pacific Bluffs Cemetery, you’ll see a dog sitting at a grave. This visual is an homage to the famous tale of Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier, who spent 14 years protecting his master John Gray’s grave until he died on January 14, 1872. Bobby was buried at Greyfriars’ Kirkyard, just meters away from his owner.

A slight glimpse of a similar breed dog visiting the cemetery in GTA V and sitting around a grave is surely a fitting tribute to the tale of Greyfriars Bobby. Also, it’s just a reminder to all the gaming fans about the unconditional love of pets.
It’s amusing how after ten long years, GTA V is still making waves. However, this time, the surprise was too overwhelming to sink in. Evidently, the fans couldn’t keep up with their emotions after discovering the in-game tribute.

A fan drew an interesting parallel with Dark Souls, suggesting Sif guarding Artorias’ grave might also have been an inspiration from the story of Greyfriars Bobby.
That’s fascinating.
Reminds me of Sif from Dark Souls (minus the sword) who guards Artorias’ grave.
Wonder if the story of Greyfriars Bobby had a little inspiration? pic.twitter.com/syXph5rxlw

A user expresses an interesting thought, believing it would be harder than ever for Rockstar Games to keep up to the standards set by GTA 6 in every parameter.
When you think about all the little details and easter eggs in GTA5, it's hard to imagine what GTA6 has in store given the potential size and scope.
