It looks like gamers are in for a massive Christmas treat this year. At least that is what seems to be the case, going by a wild rumor, coming straight from a reputed industry insider. Players can expect a Nintendo Switch 2 announcement in the next 24 hours. It will be insane in case the Japanese giant actually decides to do so.

Jeff Grubb, who’s known for making unexpected but mostly accurate claims, recently took to X while responding to a post, from AfterTimeX. Jeff wrote that gaming fans should “expect a Switch 2 announcement tomorrow”. Going by this, fans can expect a Switch 2 reveal on December 24, right before Christmas.

AfterTimeX’s post was about an upcoming product, a user was beta testing. It was a video demonstrating this device and its working. This account also mentioned that a ‘flash cart’ device is expected to arrive for Nintendo Switch very soon. It will reportedly support all firmware and console types from all regions.

However, things may or may not turn out to be authentic. There have been similar speculations made by scoopers in the last few months. But they weren’t legit and Nintendo didn’t even mention anything connected to Switch 2, let alone dropping a hint. Since the insider has speculated and additionally shared another post replying to the first one and said, “There’s definitely a chance I’m being serious. Don’t look at a calendar or anything,” we can wait and watch.

Jeff sparks speculation: Nintendo Switch 2 announcement imminent?

Jeff has a history of making wild claims, so this one might be one of them. If that’s the situation, it won’t be too surprising for fans and they will move on. But if there’s any substance to his post, the internet will surely explode. After all, Nintendo Switch 2 is something handheld gamers have been looking forward to for a very long-long time.

For the uninitiated, the Switch has sold over 132 million units worldwide since it was first released in 2017. It’s rapidly approaching the stage of its lifetime where players will consider it outdated. Especially for the upcoming, graphically demanding titles that the Switch simply won’t be able to handle. Hence, a Switch 2 is needed.

But while the Switch is entering an impressive 7th year in March 2024, Nintendo needs a much more powerful Switch 2 if it wants to continue competing with its rivals.

It will be interesting to see how Jeff’s claim ages by the end of tomorrow, December 24, 2023. The entire Nintendo community will be eager to see this become a reality and surely look forward to an announcement coming straight from the Japanese giant.
