Elden Ring was one of the biggest games of 2022. The game went on to be the Game of the Year for 2022. Eventually, it even dethroned The Last of Us Part 2 by being the game with the most GOTY awards. The publisher Namco also announced an expansion to that game called Shadow of the Erdtree. But ever since its announcement, there hasn’t been any update on that DLC. But now, it seems it might not be very far from release.

A very recent leak has suggested that developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco might be bringing Elden Ring’s DLC to the Game Awards show. And it makes sense too; they announced this game during the game awards, and they even announced Armored Core VI during this awards show.

There’s a high chance of Elden Ring’s DLC Shadow of the Erdtree being at the Game Awards 2023!

Elden Ring is a massive open-world game. Its biggest appeal was the fact that developer FromSoftware had found a way to transform their best-selling Soulslike game formula into an open-world game. And it worked like a charm, too. The game became one of Namco and FromSoftware’s bestselling titles. And as they do with every game, they even announced a DLC for it.

As mentioned earlier, the DLC was named Shadow of the Erdtree. It was reported that this DLC would expand the world of the base game. This expansion means new areas, new boss fights, and, most importantly, a brand-new story. And since the announcement of this DLC, they have simply refused to even mention it. But recently, an update in Elden Ring’s Steam Database has given fans some hope. There are no details about what files were updated, but the fact that it was updated only recently means something’s afoot.

Last year, when a similar update happened to the Steam database, FromSoftware announced the Colosseum update for the game. That update, too, was announced during the Game Awards ceremony, but in 2022.

Hence, fans are super hyped for this right now. Of course, the Game Awards are going to bring a lot of good news for fans.

Where would the DLC take this story, though?

Besides the obvious question of its launch date, another question lingers in the minds of fans: where would it take them? Several speculations have been made, but only one seems most probable. One where FromSoftware focuses on Miquella. He is one character that is mentioned a lot in The Elden Ring but is never seen.

Even in the boss fight, where players see his supposed shell, it does not seem he is inside of it. One thing is for sure: if players chose to take down his sister Malenia, he would not be sitting idle. He is bound to come back and try to avenge or even revive her. As mentioned above, though, this is just speculation. The real deal would only be revealed once fans got their first look at the DLC.
