Roberto Bautista Agut opened the second set and Monfils happened to drop his serve, as the Spaniard switched on his attacking mode of tennis and outplayed the Frenchman in the second set. Agut held the set 6-3 and pushed the game into the decider. Until the second set, Monfils saved eight out the ten break points he faced and Bautista saved seven of them out of the nine he faced.

In the third set, Roberto Bautista Agut remained offensive and both the ATP men continued to play a safe game of tennis. Agut’s ball placements on the court were nearly perfect and agile Monfils could respond a few of the returns from the World Number 13.
