Every year, May 4th is Star Wars Day. Fans across the globe celebrate the day for George Lucas’ creation of the Star Wars franchise. The chosen date is based on the famous catchphrase “May The Force Be With You” (May the 4th…geddit?) Since 2013, Disney has embraced the holiday as an annual celebration of Star Wars, hosting several events and festivities at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Now, the gaming industry has joined in on the celebrations. Epic Games, to celebrate Star Wars Day, brought lightsabers and much more back into Fortnite.
Lightsabers made their return to the game after a Fortnite promotional event for the film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in December last year. Back then, although Epic added the Lightsabers to the game only for a certain period, it allowed players to engage in hand-to-hand melee combat. In another unique feature, the lightsabers could block incoming bullets.

The red lightsaber symbolizes Kylo Ren. The green symbolizes Luke Skywalker. The blue one is Rey’s, while the purple belongs to Mace Windu.

Apart from Star Wars skins and lightsabers, some other cosmetic items, including back-blings and emotes, are up for grabs too. Moreover, an additional fourth skin of the white Stormtrooper can also be availed by purchasing a copy of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order from the Epic Games store.
Disclaimer: Players will not attain any special skills or abilities from these items. But, they do guarantee that the player looks cool while building or shooting down enemies.

The only downside to this is that the Star Wars skins and items are only available for a limited time, as mentioned by Fortnite on Twitter. The gear is reportedly set to disappear from the in-game shop on May 5th. However, speculation suggests if you’re lucky, the event could be extended by a few days. As of now, it’s not entirely clear. Even though Epic Games in all probability will do a similar event next year, the gear might not be the same. So it’s best if you grab yourself that Star Wars loot.
