Over the years we have seen a number of drivers getting into Formula 1 after successful Formula 2 campaigns. Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Antonio Giovinazzi, and Nicolas Latifi have competed in Formula 2 in past. Whereas Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hulkenberg and many others competed in the pre-standardization GP2 days.

The 2020 Formula season is going to feature a lot of potential F1 drivers like Former Redbull junior team driver Dan Ticktum, current test driver of Williams and Mick Schumacher, son of legendary 7 times F1 World Champion Micheal Schumacher.

Formula 2 is one of the hottest racing events currently. The season is filled with closer racing, on track actions and a bunch of young drivers working to prove their mettle for Formula 1. FIA Formula 2 Championship is the primary feeder series for Formula 1. And is the 2nd tier of the FIA Global Pathway program.

It is currently in its 4th year after the 2017 rebranding of GP2 series into Formula 2 by FIA. And forty-fifths season overall. The season is planned to be run on the side of a few Formula 1 World Championship races. The championship is a spec series with all teams and drivers contending in a similar vehicle. The Dallara F2 2018, is currently in the last year of its use.

Possible F1 Drivers in the current Formula 2 season

The series currently has 11 teams and will feature at least 22 drivers. The 2019 season had a record-breaking 27 drivers participating concurrently. Here are a few drivers who can make it in F1 in a few years

Dan Ticktum

Former RedBull academy driver, Dan almost made into F1 last season when RedBull needed a replacement for Gasly. He is the current test driver for Williams. And will do his 1st full season in Formula 2

Mick Schumacher

Son of the 7 times world champion Micheal Schumacher, Mick is in his 2nd F2 season. After a few promising performances last year, all eyes will be on him.

Pedro Piquet

The 21-year-old is the son of three-time F1 World Champion, Nelson Piquet, and shone in F2 post-season testing with Charouz, where he drove F2 machinery for the first time. He finished inside the top 10 times during three of the sessions and his best lap was good enough for P8 on the overall timesheets

Giuliano Alesi

Ferrari Academy driver Giuliano Alesi will be back after a successful debut season in F2.
Son of mercurial Formula 1 racer Jean Alesi, he could move up to F1 soon.
