World No.1 Novak Djokovic is all set to face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-finals of the French Open 2020. However, tennis legend Mats Wilander believes that his recent ‘shoulder injury’ could be a big concern for him before the match. Wilander also ruled out the allegations put forward by Pablo Carreno Busta that Djokovic has always asked for a doctor whenever he has gotten into trouble. The 56-year-old said that Djokovic’s concerns were genuine.
“I think Novak’s injury is a big worry. He obviously doesn’t want to show his opponent that he is injured walking into the court. It’s a legitimate injury that’s going to be there, and if he doesn’t get a good start then that could be a problem,” Mats Wilander said.
Djokovic didn’t feel comfortable in the first set of the match against Busta in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros 2020. At one point, he was forced to call his doctors to the court. In the post-match press conference, Busta said that he knew such a thing would happen during the game since Djokovic had started losing his momentum.

‘Don’t think he wants to do that when he’s down’- Wilander on Novak Djokovic
Countering Busta’s statement, Wilander said,” Pablo Carreno Busta hinted that he always does that – I don’t think Novak wants to do that when he’s down.”
Wilander even defended the World No. 1 and explained why he took so much time to recover. “Clearly it took him some time to warm his body yesterday. That’s going to be the same tomorrow, and again in the final,” said the 7-time Grand Slam champion.

Djokovic is aiming to lift his second French Open title this Sunday. But Wilander claimed that his injury might act as an obstacle for him. He even cited the possible difficulties Djokovic might face in the next two games due to this.
“I would say it’s a worry for sure because these next two matches for any player are going to be absolutely brutal in length and physicality. You are going to run for a long time. They will be two marathon matches,” concluded Wilander.
