Arsenal in the last decades has been a powerful force, and Manchester United has been unstoppable either. When these teams clashed, it was always a delight to watch. However, things went south in a game back in 2004, where it was more than just words being exchanged between the two teams.
Cesc Fabregas using Pizza as a Weapon
At Old Trafford, back in 2004, Arsenal was on an unbeaten streak of 49 games when they met Manchester and it was a disheartening 2-0 loss for the Gunners. Wayne Rooney who just turned 19 scored both the goals and landed the distasteful defeat to their opponents.

While walking towards the dugout, Arsenal who was running on fumes, made things physical and when Fabregas saw his teammates taking matters into their own hands, he also wanted to pitch in, so he threw what he had in his hands. After he threw it, he saw where it went, and it went straight to Sir Alex Ferguson’s face, the head coach of Manchester United. And what an embarrassing scenario it was, a pizza thrown right at the face of a senior personality!
In his own words, Cesc Fabregas said, “All of a sudden, I heard noises (from the tunnel) and I thought what’s happening? So I go out with my slice of pizza and I saw Sol Campbell, Rio Ferdinand, Martin Keown… everyone pushing each other.” “I was like, I want to get in but I don’t know how to and I threw… peeew… just threw it. Once I saw it was hitting, like, who it was hitting, which I didn’t mean…”
After so many years, Fabregas is not very proud of what he did. His reasons were that he wanted to be there for his teammates. Also, he was disappointed with the defeat as it was a horrible game for Arsenal. Their supporters weren’t able to believe it, as they were pure beasts that season.
