Undefeated former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov wants his close friend, football legend, Cristiano Ronaldo, to stay at his current club, Manchester United. And he has a plan to persuade him as well.

‘The Eagle’ Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired from the sport of MMA for the better part of the last two years. His last outing was against ‘The Highlight Reel’ Justin Gaethje, back in 2020. Hence, he has found time to immerse in other sports and also invest in some businesses.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, the Russian MMA fighter talked about football and the love he has for the sport. While talking about football, ‘The Eagle’ stumbled upon the matter of his close friend Cristiano Ronaldo.

As Nurmagomedov believes, Manchester United (his favorite club) is capable of great things in the next season. He wants the Portuguese to remain with them, and he has a plan in mind to make that happen as well.

“I’m gonna talk with him because I remember when he moved from real Madrid. Like he told me like couple months before he moved. And when he moved from Juventus, he told me.”

“But I don’t go to media. Tell me this is, this is not for me. I am not like journalist you know. I am not from like Sky Sports, you know, and uh, I’m gonna ask him, I’m gonna ask him. Honestly, I want his stay; I want his stay, you know, honestly, I want like, if you guys ask my opinion, I want,” Nurmagomedov told Sky Sports.

Khabib Nurmagomedov advises Islam Makhachev

The Russian grappler is currently busy building his MMA promotion, Eagle Fighting Championship, in the North American markets. However, the most important thing for him right now is his childhood friend Islam Makhachev’s fight.

Recently, he was seen advising his friend Islam Makhachev on the media attention the latter was complaining about.

“I think this is like big preparation before fight for the title,” Nurmagomedov told the camera. “I think [Makhachev] little bit complain about too much media. Like coach Javier [Mendez] said, ‘If you don’t want [this attention], just lose. Nobody gonna come.’ very simple.” Nurmagomedov told Makhachev (h/t Bloody Elbow)
