Bayern Munich are arguably one of the best teams in Europe right now. While other superclubs like Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City resort to big money signings, Bayern often make intelligent free agent signings. One of their best signings recently has been German midfielder Leon Goretzka.

Goretzka who arrived at Munich from Schalke 04, initially struggled for playtime. But over the years, the German has solidified himself as one of the best box to box midfielders in Europe. With his ability to create chances and also to have some timely stops, Goretzka has become a two-way force.

Manchester United and Real Madrid keen on signing Leon Goretzka

The latest rift between Goretzka and Bayern has certainly alerted some of the top clubs in Europe. Given that Goretzka is one of the top midfielders in Europe and still has his best years, the German could be an exciting prospect for any top team.

For United, who have their own struggles with Paul Pogba not signing a new contract, Goretzka can be a perfect replacement. According to insider Ronan Murphy, the Red Devils are already putting the work in and have reportedly submitted a contract offer for the German.

Man Utd have submitted a contract offer to Leon Goretzka for the end of the season, according to Sport Bild. His current Bayern Munich contract expires in 2022 and he has history, running down his Schalke contract to join Bayern. #MUFC #FCBayern

The German can be an incredible addition to the United squad. With his skill-set, United won’t be worried about Pogba’s expiring contract. But the Red Devils might be facing some competition for the same.

Given how successful the Spanish giants are, they are one of the most revered clubs in Europe. With former teammate David Alaba, already joining the Los Blancos, a move for Goretzka seems feasible. With their starting midfielders aging, the signing of Goretzka will be a wonderful addition for the Los Merengues.

Given how inflated the market value of players has been lately, a free agent signing of Goretzka’s quality is rare. If the German midfielder does end up with the Red Devils or the Los Blancos, he could be the bargain signing for next season.
