Barcelona has a lot of young exciting talents on their roster this season and American right-back Sergino Dest is one of the best of them. However, there are some rumors about Dest leaving the Spanish club and several Premier League clubs are interested especially Arsenal.

However, sports journalist Fabrizio Romano squashed the dreams of Arsenal fans and revealed that the USMNT star is not leaving Spain anytime soon. “Despite rumors about negotiations/potential proposals, Sergiño Dest is not planning to leave Barcelona this summer. Dest was a regular starter for Barcelona in the 2020/21 season and his amazing performance against Real Madrid earned rave reviews from fans and pundits alike. Dest joined Barcelona from Ajax last season after a brief transfer sage in which Bayern Munich was heavily involved.

The German club reportedly hadn’t cooled their interest in the 20-year-old and was rumored to be interested in signing Dest this season.

There is a lot of trouble among the ranks at Barcelona due to a financial crisis and they desperately need to reduce their wage bill. However, they would love to keep young players like Dest, Pedri, Frenkie De Jong, and Ansu Fati as they promise a bright future for the club.

Thankfully for them, prominent journalist Christian Falk has revealed that Bayern is not interested in Sergino Dest and that there were no talks with his management team. Only time will tell if this is indeed true but the possibility of Dest leaving Barcelona is all but dead.

The USMNT right-back has enjoyed a great season at Barcelona with his versatility coming in handy for the Spanish club. He also revealed why he chose to join Barcelona over Bayern Munich back in 2020 and said that history played a part in his decision.

“Bayern are a great club and there was interest from them, but I followed what my heart told me to and for that, I signed for Barca. I think it was the right decision. They are a club with so much history and I’ve always wanted to play here,” Dest said.
