Ever since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney invested in Wrexham, the club has seen landmark changes both on and off the pitch. From breaking a 15-year-old absence from the EFL to bagging record-breaking media coverage, things have never been better for the Red Dragons. Adding another feather to their cap, Wrexham bagged $32 Billion valued Geicko Insurance as sponsor for their pre-season tour. As always, Wrexham’s social media content featuring the owners is a gold mine. This time, the video saw Reynolds and McElhenney creatively use Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami debut hype to announce the sponsorship.

Ryan Reynolds playfully trolls Lionel Messi while announcing a major sponsorship deal for Wrexham

The video starts with Rob McElhenney telling the audience that he has a major announcement to make which no one knows about. Not even Ryan Reynolds. He then proceeds to video call Ryan and displays a miniature Wrexham jersey with Gecko printed behind. Looking at the height of the jersey, Ryan first displays shock as he thinks they managed to sign Messi.

Rob instantly shoots down the idea and explained that the jersey is for Gecko, the mascot of Geicko insurance company. Ryan then makes another hilarious joke hinting since Gecko sounds British, he could actually be a decent player for the team. Tired of the jokes, Rob proceeds to explain the sponsorship details and ends the video. Truly hilarious and creative.
