“Obviously I’m 38 years old, I’m not going to be playing forever and it just always feels weird for me to have something settled and feel at peace and to not answer a question honestly,” Rapinoe said. She then shared the positive side of the announcement – a methodical mind leads to a clear focus aka the World Cup.

“We don’t have to get questions every time, every single game. It’s just kind of out there and I can just really enjoy it and focus on trying to win the tournament,” ended the USWMNT legend optimistically.

Nevertheless, the USWNT team deals with the exciting prospect of setting an unprecedented record.

Will Megan Rapinoe & team manage a third consecutive World Cup win?

While every World Cup comes with its own expectations, this one will be extra heavy for the USWNT due to two reasons. Firstly, the team has a solid chance of achieving a three-peat in this World Cup. Secondly, the entire country would love to end Megan Rapinoe’s final World Cup appearance on a high. With expectations high, will the USWNT live up to its billing or succumb to it?
