Call of Duty Mobile has proved to be an immense success for Activision this past 12 months. With over 300 million downloads worldwide, this mobile game is a top contender on the platform. Further to that, its success is now propelling Activision Blizzard to extend its mobile platform plans.
Gamasutra quoted Activision Blizzard president and COO Daniel Alegre on the company’s plans to extend in the mobile sector.
“We need to make sure that we’re enabling our franchisees on the billions of mobile devices that are available right now. That’s by far our biggest opportunity and we’re investing meaningfully to capitalize on this and to take all our franchises to mobile over time.”

Activision Blizzard is reportedly conducting meetings and calls with investors. The executives at the company have a clear plan ahead about their plans to expand on mobile. Moreover, development efforts will be directed towards platforms with proven success. Therefore, even cloud-based streaming is up for grabs.
Activision Blizzard acquired King, the maker of the all-time favorite Candy Crush, some years back. That was their first step into mobile gaming.

Call of Duty Mobile’s Anniversary celebrations were off the hook. According to Rob Kostich, president of Activision, the in-game celebration returned huge profits.

“In terms of future growth, we do still see strong potential for Call of Duty: Mobile. China obviously we believe can become a significant contributor to our overall franchise revenues, and we talked about how the title has been approved and now it’s in final testing. So again, we expect to see it soon. We think can have great impact in the region.”
Apart from China, countries in the Americas like Brazil and Mexico are fruitful markets for mobile gaming. Expanding in these sectors is Activision’s plan in the coming quarters. They’ve certainly found success with their venture into mobile gaming so far and it will only embolden them to be more ambitious.
