Olympic medalist Race Imboden gets engaged
After winning a bronze medal in Tokyo, Imboden and Thibus decided to celebrate when he proposed to her in a hotel. The fencer spoke in excitement and recollected their time together.
“After the Games, we stayed at one of our favorite hotels in Paris, Le Pigalle. In the hotel, there was a record player, and I had made a vinyl for the proposal. I recorded an intro that ended with me popping the big question,” said Imboden.
It is a beautiful moment for the couple as they announced their engagement. Thibus expressed her happiness to PEOPLE as well.
“I didn’t expect it at all. I love the way he proposed because it was intimate and personal. It really felt like us. Marriage has never felt like a destination for me. I was in shock at first. I felt deeply loved not because of a ring, but because of the way I feel with him. This moment is a celebration of that feeling,” said Thibus.
