Sending some cheer to her fans, who had been fretting on her availability at the upcoming Wimbledon Championships, Simona Halep has announced her return to practice.
The two-time Grand Slam champion shared a video clip on Twitter, striking tennis balls leaping out of a machine on a practice court.
The 29-year-old Romanian had been out of action since suffering a muscle injury during a match against old rival and three-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber at the Italian Open.

The match was called off and the German star progressed to the next round by virtue of a walkover.
The current World No.3 tagged the clip with a message saying though she has been out of action for three-and-a-half weeks, it feels like she’s away for longer as she sorely missed hitting tennis balls.
Simona Halep says she sorely missed playing tennis
“My first hit after 3.5 weeks. It feels like I’ve been away a lot longer because I missed playing so much,” Halep wrote.
She added that the spell in the sidelines was the “best” as it made her realize that though she leads a good life, there’s always a longing inside of her to return to the sport.
