Russian tennis powerhouse Daniil Medvedev has been a man on a mission at the US Open 2021. The World No. 2 player has been in sensational form over the past few weeks. Yesterday, again, the 25-year-old cruised over the finishing line. 

In doing so, Daniil Medvedev became the US Open 2021 champion. He defeated World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the final and managed to do something that no player had been able to do this season. He has finally opened his Grand Slam account after being a finalist twice prior to yesterday. The Russian did it in style as well, defeating the favorite in straight sets and celebrating in iconic fashion inspired by the football video game, FIFA.

Daniil Medvedev received a special token from German giants 

After winning the title, Daniil received a special gesture from football giants, Bayern Munich. They gave the Russian star a jersey with the number one printed along with his name. The World No. 2 player has been a fan of the German giants and for the club to compliment him in such a way, was a class act.

Reflecting on the match, Daniil was strong right from the word go. He left no room for error and played a clinical match. He won the match in straight sets, which lasted just over two hours. After losing to Novak earlier in Melbourne, the Russian got his revenge in the final Grand Slam event of the season.

Daniil was the finalist at the Australian Open. After that, he managed to reach the quarterfinal of the French Open, which was his best result in Paris. He came as far as the fourth round at the Wimbledon Championships. We wish him the very best for the rest of the season.
