For Mass Effect fans, November 7 is not just a regular day. It is the game’s official annual holiday that celebrates Commander Shepard’s N7 military designation. Every year, the developers announce some exciting updates for the community and 2020 is no exception.

Rumors of a Mass Effect: Legendary Edition were floating around for a long time. BioWare has finally confirmed them in a recent blog post and also announced a new Mass Effect game.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will modernize the player experience

Following the release of its first game in 2007, Mass Effect has been one of the most successful game franchises ever. Despite a disappointing ending in Mass Effect 3, fans around the world loved the trilogy. Therefore, it is not surprising that they have been waiting for a remastered version of the game for a long time.

As per the developers, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will offer better graphics and performance. They have updated the textures, shaders, models, effects, and technical features. As a result, the game now has super-sharp resolutions, higher frame rates, and astonishing visual upgrades.

The remastered version will include the single-player base content and DLC from all three games in the trilogy. Last, but not least, the weapons, armors, and packs have been specifically optimized for the 4K Ultra HD resolution.

 “Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form.”

Developers announce the next chapter in the franchise

Due to the failure of Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2017, EA and BioWare had put the series on hold. After three years, they have finally announced a new installment in the franchise. Apparently, a “veteran team” has been working hard on the next chapter.

“We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next,” said Casey Hudson, VP, Studio GM of BioWare.

The Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be available in Spring 2021 across several platforms, including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. There is no information on the release date of the new game, however, the developers have promised regular updates henceforth.
