It is safe to say that the Williams F1 team are having a nightmarish time in the 2019 F1 season. So, in a situation of ‘desperate times call for desperate measures’, a familiar face returns to the Williams F1 team.
Williams F1 co-founder Patrick Head has returned to the Grove-based team as an engineering team consultant. The Briton is highly revered in the team as he has lead the team to the constructors title nine times.
The 72-year old elected to take a back seat from 2011 onwards, and since then, the team has been on a downward spiral. Their last ever win was at the hands of Venezuelan driver, Pastor Maldonado.

Head’s return to the team comes on the back of Paddy Lowe’s exit, owing to personal reasons.
The Williams F1 team confirmed the news in a statement, it read, “We can confirm that Sir Patrick Head is currently offering some support to our engineering team on a short-term consultancy basis.”
To be honest, the Williams team needs all the help they can get to help them out of their rut. They are in a whole heap of trouble and hopefully, Head’s presence can be their saving grace.

Team principal, Claire Williams addressed the issue of spare parts or the lack of it. “Inevitably we’ve got a little bit of a backlog from not having got the car out when we needed to in testing but everyone’s worked really hard at the factory to make sure we’ve got the spares we need,” Williams revealed to Sky Sports.
“We’ve got spares for all the parts that we need. We’ve just got to make sure that the drivers don’t do anything on track to jeopardise that. I think a lot of teams at this time of year anyway are in a similar kind of position, clearly we didn’t help ourselves but it’s not anything that I’m overly concerned about.”
