Chelsea have signed the 29-year old Columbian Radamel Falcao on loan from AS Monaco with an option of making it a permanent move. He\is last stint was a terrible loan spell at Manchester united, where he managed to score only 4 goals in 29 games in the entire season, and was regarded as one of the big flops of the season.
But what’s astonishing is that Falcao has taken a decision to join Chelsea with an approximate 50% pay cut. This shows his eagerness to prove that he isn’t a flop in the Premier League and can adapt to the highly paced English style of football. Falcao had a contract with Manchester United with a wage of £285,000 but he has now stooped down to an amount of £140,000 which is even less than half of his previous pay. After joining, Falcao said “I am very happy to be joining Chelsea and can’t wait to start training and help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe”.
It was Mourinho’s major priority to get a striker as back up following Didier Drogba’s departure. Jose Mourinho is hoping to get back Falcao’s deadly form which made him one of the most feared strikers all around and last month, he stated “‘If I can help Falcao reach his level again, I will do it. It hurts me people in England think that the real Falcao is the one we saw at United.
