On Tuesday in Detroit, the New York Yankees were handed their first shutout loss of the season as the Tigers extended their winning streak to five games with a 5-0 victory.  The chilly weather wasn’t the only thing that the Yankees had to deal with – the reigning AL Cy Young winner was all locked in!

Tarik Skubal, Detroit Tigers’ ace, was simply untouchable. Throwing six shutout innings, and keeping the Yankees off balance with a mix of pitches in Skubal fashion. Jazz Chisholm Jr. was full of praise for Skubal’s performance, saying, “He kept us off-balance, he hit his spots, and that’s what you’ve got to do, especially when you’re facing guys like Judge and Goldschmidt.”

Tarik did just that, throwing his pitches with perfect precision and making the Yankees swing in confusion. A classic masterclass of pitching, which left even Aaron Boone frustrated. “It’s imperative that he really commands all of it. He’s got to have that elite command. He doesn’t have a lot of margin for error,” Boone expressed.

However, on the flip side, Carlos Carrasco struggled. His lack of command allowed the Tigers to pounce upon the Yankees. Carrasco was feasted upon by the Tigers with three solo home runs in a span of just 11 pitches.
